What We Do
Our platform provides comprehensive email verification through multiple layers of validation that work together to deliver industry-leading accuracy. Here is what happens when you verify an email address through our system:
Syntax and Format Validation: We check that the email address conforms to RFC 5321 and RFC 5322 standards. This catches obvious errors like missing @ symbols, invalid characters, double dots, and other formatting issues that would cause immediate delivery failures. Our parser handles edge cases that simpler validators miss, including quoted local parts, international domain names, and plus-addressed aliases.
Domain and DNS Verification: We resolve the domain portion of the email address and verify that it exists, has valid DNS records, and is configured to receive email. We check A records, AAAA records, and CNAME records in addition to MX records, because some domains receive email through fallback mechanisms that MX-only checks would miss.
MX Record Analysis: We query the domain's Mail Exchanger records to identify the mail servers responsible for receiving email. We verify that these servers are responsive and properly configured. Our system maintains a continuously updated database of mail server configurations for millions of domains, enabling faster verification and more accurate results.
SMTP Mailbox Verification: We connect to the recipient mail server and perform a protocol-level check to determine whether the specific mailbox exists without actually sending an email. This non-intrusive verification method confirms deliverability while respecting server resources and privacy. Our SMTP verification engine handles greylisting, rate limiting, and temporary failures intelligently, retrying when appropriate to ensure accurate results.
Disposable Email Detection: We maintain a database of over 150,000 known disposable email domains and use machine learning to detect new disposable services as they appear. Disposable emails are temporary addresses that users create to avoid sharing their real email, and they become invalid within hours or days. Removing them from your list prevents wasted sends and keeps your engagement metrics accurate.
Catch-All Domain Detection: Some domains are configured to accept email for any address, making it impossible to verify individual mailboxes through SMTP alone. We identify these catch-all domains and flag them so you can make informed decisions about whether to keep or remove these addresses from your lists.
Role-Based Address Detection: We identify generic, role-based email addresses like info@, support@, admin@, and sales@ that are managed by teams rather than individuals. These addresses often have lower engagement rates and higher complaint rates, so flagging them helps you optimize your sending strategy.
Spam Trap Detection: Our system identifies known spam trap addresses maintained by ISPs and anti-spam organizations. Sending to spam traps can result in immediate blacklisting, so detecting and removing them is critical for protecting your sender reputation.
Risk Scoring: Every email address receives a risk score from 0 to 100 based on the results of all verification checks. This score helps you set your own threshold for what constitutes an acceptable risk level, giving you fine-grained control over list quality.
