What the Google Sheets Integration Does
The Email Verifier by EcomTech Google Sheets integration brings the full power of our email verifier into your spreadsheets. The integration works through a Google Workspace add-on that installs directly into Google Sheets and provides two verification methods: a custom formula that verifies individual emails inline, and a sidebar panel for batch verification of entire columns or selected ranges. Both methods connect to our verification API to perform the same comprehensive 7-layer checks used across all our products, including syntax validation, domain analysis, MX record lookup, SMTP mailbox verification, disposable email detection, catch-all identification, and risk scoring.
Spreadsheets remain the most common way businesses manage email lists, especially for marketing teams, event organizers, sales teams, and agencies that receive contact data from multiple sources. Rather than exporting your data, uploading it to a verification tool, waiting for results, and re-importing the cleaned list, our Google Sheets integration lets you verify emails without leaving your workflow. The custom formula =EVVERIFY(A1) works like any native spreadsheet function and can be dragged down to verify entire columns. The sidebar panel provides batch processing for larger datasets with progress tracking, result filtering, and export options. Team members can use the same sheet with their own API keys, making collaborative list cleaning simple and trackable. Whether you are verifying a few dozen emails from a networking event or processing thousands of leads from a marketing campaign, the Google Sheets integration makes email verification as easy as entering a formula.
Step-by-Step Setup Guide
Install the Google Sheets Add-On
Open any Google Sheet, click Extensions in the menu bar, then select Add-ons and Get Add-ons. Search for EV Email Verifier in the Google Workspace Marketplace. Click Install and grant the necessary permissions. The add-on requires access to your spreadsheet data to read email addresses and write verification results. Installation takes about 30 seconds.
Configure Your API Key
After installation, go to Extensions, then EV Email Verifier, then Settings. Enter your Email Verifier by EcomTech API key which you can find in your dashboard under API Keys. Click Save and Test to verify the connection. If you do not have an account, sign up at our email verifier page for 100 free monthly verifications. Your API key is stored securely in your Google account properties.
Verify Single Emails with the Custom Formula
In any cell, type =EVVERIFY(A1) where A1 contains the email address you want to verify. Press Enter and the formula will return the verification status (Valid, Invalid, Risky, or Unknown). For additional data, use =EVSCORE(A1) for the risk score and =EVTYPE(A1) for the email type. Drag the formulas down to verify an entire column of emails.
Use the Sidebar for Batch Verification
For larger lists, open the sidebar by going to Extensions, then EV Email Verifier, then Open Sidebar. Select the column containing email addresses, choose which result columns to add (status, score, type, action), and click Verify All. The sidebar shows progress in real-time and processes up to 10,000 emails per batch. Results are written to adjacent columns as verification completes.
Filter and Sort by Verification Results
After verification, use Google Sheets native filtering to sort your data by verification status. Filter for Valid to create a clean email list, filter for Invalid to identify addresses that need removal, and filter for Risky to review addresses that might need manual checking. You can also use conditional formatting to color-code rows based on verification status for visual clarity.
Export or Connect Clean Data to Other Tools
Download your verified spreadsheet as CSV for import into your email marketing platform, CRM, or other tools. Alternatively, connect your Google Sheet to other platforms using our Zapier integration or Make integration to automatically sync verified contacts. You can also use Google Sheets built-in integrations with Google Ads, Looker Studio, and other Google products to leverage your clean email data across your marketing stack.
